Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 on the campus of Howard University by twenty-two collegiate women that wanted to use their collective strengths to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. In March of 1913, Delta Sigma Theta performed their first of public service by participating in the Women's Sufferage March in Washington D.C.
